What Is A Curbless Shower?
Curbless Showers, an Important Feature in Universal Design, Are Safe, Comfortable and Accessible
A curbless shower is a ubiquitous feature of Universal Design — a method of configuring a space to accommodate all users, regardless of age, mobility, or ability. Because a curbless shower has no lip on the floor, it is easily accessible for those with limited mobility or those in a wheelchair.
Most spas have curbless showers, and the clean, minimalist design can be easily incorporated into a home bath. Many curbless showers have no door, or use a shower curtain to create privacy.
Universal Design Is Beautiful Design
Although curbless showers are highly functional, even utilitarian, they certainly can be beautiful as well. There are hundreds of tile, glass, and fixture selections that run the gamut from urban chic to warm contemporary to spa-luxurious.
